Patti Rundall, Policy Director of Baby Milk Action, has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year's Honours List 2000 for services to infant nutrition.

1st January 2000

Since 1980, Patti Rundall has co-ordinated the work of Baby Milk Action, including the long-running campaign against Nestlé, the world's largest food company, which continues to market baby milk and foods products irresponsibly.

The World Health Organisation and UNICEF estimate that reversing the decline in breastfeeding could save the lives of 1.5 million infants every year and call on companies to abide by the marketing requirements set out in World Health Assembly Resolutions.

Baby Milk Action, works to protect breastfeeding and infant health and is the UK member of the global network, IBFAN. For the last 20 years it has lobbied for effective and transparent European and global controls which implement WHA Resolutions and which ensure that health and the rights of women and children are not forgotten in the drive to increase trade.
