Dear Mr. Brabeck-Letmathe,

I am writing to inform you that I will boycott Nescafé until independent evidence shows that Nestlé complies fully with the letter and the spirit of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and subsequent, relevant Resolutions of the World Health Assembly.

Nestlé is one of the most boycotted companies on the planet because the evidence shows it violates these requirements more than any other company.

As you know, infants who are not breastfed are at greater risk of short and long-term illness and death. Yet you continue to promote your products in ways that violate the Code and Resolutions, undermining breastfeeding. The Code and Resolutions also exist to protect mothers who use formula, but you do not provide the information necessary to reduce the risks of formula feeding.

I have seen from your responses to reports of violations that Nestlé does not accept the provisions of the Code and Resolutions and misrepresents them.

Until you bring policies and practices into line, the boycott will continue and I will support it and encourage others to do so.

Yours sincerely,
